Talking to walls

Jim's still sick, leaving me using more social media than is good for me to get my words out. He got sick this weekend taking the older boys on a hike through Sanborn Park. It's one of the more beautiful parks in our area, but scouts insists on holding the hike on a weekend where rain is highly probable.

And so with that, and the stress of his parents's visit, Jim started to come down with a cold. This isn't to say he doesn't love his parents, but he feels routinely on edge whenever he tries to make arrangements with them. He's 36 today but still feels like they don't respect him or trust him to make plans.

I've tried pointing out this has everything to do with them, but he still stresses.

At least today is quiet.

The downside is that I had to scrap all plans of working from home and sneaking out at lunch to get him something nice for dinner. He is entrenched in the house and more importantly in our office space. Got to think of something. Want his day to be special.

Perhaps pork chops.

Baby James

James has his second tooth coming in. Poor guy looks at me in disbelief and I agree with his incredulity. Why again does a baby have to suffer so much? Especially my warm, cuddly, smiling little baby. (Okay Little is a judgement call with James, but compared to the 10 and 5 year olds, he's small.)

Sean still feels terrible about James falling over this weekend, so puts pillows around James to protect him from further falls. This seems to frustrate our James. Perhaps he likes leaning and clonking his hard head on things. He'd be getting that from Jim's family, just so you know. No one like that in mine. No...

James says two things to us "Hiiiiiiaiiiiiaaa" and "Hewu" both are clearly greetings, but one is definitely happier than the other. He says "muuuuuummummum" when he wants comfort, which was Sean's word for nursing. James means, pick me up and tell me this bad feeling won't last forever. Pacifier, rocking, or nursing will do, just give him love.

Which Jakob and Sean both do. Jakob even holds James of his own accord.
