What do I do, Bob, what do I do?
May. 4th, 2012 12:49 pmParents had another long discussion about their long-term plans and came to no agreement. Dad feels that once his leg heals there will be no further health issues, so why fix up and sell the house now? The fact that they are too far for me to drive and help them on weekends seems irrelevant.
I'm not saying that they're helpless or that they need to go completely yardless as Mom wants. However, caring for two half-acre lots is already proving too much for my Dad.
They do not need to move close to me in gross urbanity, just close enough. I'm all there is. My uncle had his pick of three children to live by and it worked for him to stay where he was. His daughter lives across town.
There is only me and I can't move back to Humboldt. While Jim's employment covers a wide area of geographical locations, it does not cover working remotely from behind the Redwood Curtain.
But denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
