There's nothing like launching back into kids activities full-bore to realize that you were totally spoiled by summer. There was nothing on the weekends in summer, not even choir practice for Jim. Summer was this paradise of going wherever the spirit moved me.

Fall has returned with a vengeance and scouts are taking up weekend after weekend. Aeryk, our scout leader is this lovely surfer dude and practicing Buddhist who scheduled a beach clean up right over the San Jose Spartans Scout Day. I love this man even if he didn't invest more time than I would ever dream to devoting to scouts and happen to be one of the few pack leaders I know to publicly sign an inclusion policy saying he'd never discriminate against child or parent who wanted to join in scouts.

He also got me out of sitting four four hours at a football game. Truly is there nothing he can't do?

Well there is at least something I can't do, which is keep directions straight. Aeryk in charge means almost everything is at a beach. The beach clean up this past Saturday and the camp out next Saturday. I confused the two and Jake and Sean and their buddies ended up cleaning up our camp out beach instead of our designated beach.

On the upside, our beach is nice and clean for next week's camp out. Amirite?
