Came home to a sweltering house. Things have finally cooled down, but something woke me. Not sure what. It can't be the neighbors at this point. The fan we have going in our bedroom makes a fairly good impression of a small twin-engine plane, so difficult to hear much over that.
Did manage to get a bit of reading done with Sean and go over the Midwestern states with Jakob. Mayra works with them on their homework, but I still like to go over things with them. That US states puzzle is really a good study aid, if James would stop trying to chew on Minnesota.
Then came the fall out. We were all relaxing downstairs post-study when James crawled away from me to beg ice cream from his brothers. Jakob made an offhand comment about James getting messy so I headed into the kitchen, scooped up the fugitive, who had an old ice cream box in his hand and headed towards the sink. That's when I started to slip, tried to right myself and began to fall. Bent my toes backwards trying to find purchase. Ow. Ow. Ow. James was freaked out. I was in pain. Made the boys take the trash and our sticky recycling out, and Jim cleaned up the ice cream lake that had somehow formed on the floor from an improper box disposal. James getting into the trash just means moving the trash but all evidence points to the boys throwing the ice cream away with a lot left in the box. Not happy.
